A community-built network that AT&T pays to use

Helium spent years as the standing joke about crypto infrastructure with no users. That is no longer a fair description. In March 2026 the network recorded $2.5 million in monthly revenue, its highest ever, and cumulative revenue since January 2025 has passed $20 million.

The revenue comes from carriers. AT&T, Telefónica's Movistar, Google Orion and WeFi pay per gigabyte to offload subscriber traffic onto roughly 137,000 hotspots hosted by ordinary people in their homes and businesses, about 111 terabytes a day. AT&T subscribers connect automatically to 62,000+ of them.

For the people hosting a radio, this is income from coverage their own neighbourhood previously lacked. For Helium Mobile subscribers, the $20/month unlimited plan undercuts US carriers by a wide margin, which matters most to the households for whom a phone bill is a real line item.
