Solana auctioned its own logo for Nepal flood relief
$157,000
raised in USDC within hours
On 26 August 2026 a glacier collapsed in northern Nepal, sending flash floods through the Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts. Within days the Solana Foundation had turned the ecosystem's most visible piece of real estate, the profile picture on Solana's own X account, into auctionable ad inventory, splitting it into nine zones and selling them to crypto companies.
More than $157,000 in USDC came in within hours of opening, the largest single bid being $50,000 from Rollbit. Bids are collected on-chain and routed through Engage Nepal, a US 501(c)(3) led by former US Ambassador to Nepal Scott DeLisi, to the Government of Nepal's official Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
What makes this worth logging isn't the amount. It's the accountability shape. There is a named intermediary with a legal status you can look up, a government fund at the end of it, and every bid visible on-chain. That is a materially different thing from a wallet address posted next to a photograph of a disaster.
